Human Resources Associate - Benefits Administration

Bridgewater College is seeking a Human Resources professional to join our team. Our busy office supports faculty, staff and student employees.

The HR Associate's primary responsibilities are to support benefits administration, leave management, performance management, payroll, compliance, and HRIS. The position requires the ability to cross-train in all HR functions.

Essentials duties include but not limited to the following:

  • Administers all aspects of the employee Health and Welfare benefits programs to include:
    • Enrollments, terminations, participant support, etc.
    • Billing reconciliation
    • Oversight of COBRA administration
    • ACA administration
    • Open enrollment coordination
    • Ensures preparation and submission of all benefit regulatory filings.
    • Serves as the liaison with benefit consortium staff
  • Assists with the administration of the 403(b) Retirement Plan
  • Administers all employee paid and unpaid leave programs.
  • Maintains employee personnel files and accuracy of data within the HRIS/Payroll system.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions.
  • Performs work utilizing the HRIS/Payroll system and other systems.
  • Ensures payroll accuracy for each bi-weekly payroll cycle.
  • Cross trains with other HR staff positions to ensure services are provided during vacations, etc.


  • Bachelor's degree in business or human resources management or related field preferred or high school diploma/or equivalent and equivalent work experience.
  • At least three (3) years of Human Resources experience.
  • At least three (3) years of benefit administration experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR-related employment and benefit laws and regulations.
  • Prior experience working with an HRIS system required.
  • Prior work experience effectively utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs required.
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, student work workers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Human Resources environment.
  • Strong organizational skills; detail oriented with the ability to quickly and effectively handle multiple priorities to meet deadlines while maintaining professional composure
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in both written format and orally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional work ethic and high level of initiative, attention to detail, energy and creativity
