Job Title: HVAC Mechanic (ND)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an HVAC Mechanic in Herndon, Virginia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all site equipment
• Institute the corrective action and/or inform their supervisor of any issues or deficiencies found during daily work
• Supervise HVAC Tour Mechanics and General Maintenance workers as directed by their supervisor
• Monitor subcontractors and their tasks as well as provide a report on work done, when needed
• Perform other tasks as directed by their supervisor
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an ISSA TS/SCI W/ POLY clearance

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be proficient in the following HVAC related skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use tools such as a multimeter, amp clamp, temperature sensors/probes and other related tools to efficiently troubleshoot problems with HVAC equipment
  • Proper technique and operating procedure when using various service/troubleshooting tools such as refrigerant gauges, recovery machine, vacuum pump, refrigerant scale, leak detector.
  • Experience and knowledge servicing and maintaining a variety of commercial HVAC equipment including but not limited to
    • Cooling towers
    • Outside air handling units with gas heat
    • Chillers
    • Air handlers (DX/water cooled condenser)
    • Packaged units
    • VAV boxes with electric reheat
    • Dry cooler systems and associated pumps
    • CRAC units (STULZ/LEIBERT)
    • Plate heat exchangers
    • Pumps
    • Exhaust Fans
    • Make up air units
    • VFD in both fan and pump applications
  • Experience replacing compressors up to 20 tons in size
  • Experience replacing motors up to 50hp in size
  • Experience replacing, adjusting and aligning pulleys and sheaves
  • Experience replacing bearings on motors up to 50hp
  • Fully understands electrical, mechanical and control systems.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Must be able to understand and troubleshoot the refrigerant circuit
  • Must be able to understand and troubleshoot control components and circuits related to the HVAC trade and previously stated HVAC equipment
• EPA Universal Certification
• VA HVAC Journeyman license, MD class 1 Engineers or DC 3rd class
• 7+ years of commercial HVAC experience desired

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50lbs and push up to 100lbs)
• Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
• Push, pull, move or lift any related equipment, supplies and parts required to complete the job
• Manual dexterity and mobility
• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching as required to complete the job
