Job Description and Responsibilities
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for all Instrumentation Control and Networking as it relates to process control, process instrumentation electrical swtchgear and plant computer networks.
Knowledgeable in all areas of instrumentation including, but not limited to, pressure, temperature, level, flow, pH, conductivity and O2 measurement.
Develops and maintains an instrument calibration program, which meets ISO 9000 requirements and ensures that all plant instrumentation is calibrated to required accuracies.
Maintains electrical switchgear including 13.8 kV substations and 440 V MCC gear.
Functions as network administrator for computer network. Must maintain all peripherals including PCs, network cards and cables, print servers and printers, Ethernet hubs and modems.
Functions as project manager on all instrumentation related capital projects to define scope, purpose and costs. Must ensure project is complete within budget and specified completion date.
Operates in compliance with all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
Performs housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work area.
Complies with all corporate/plant policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent preferred
- 5 plus years in instrumentation and electrical maintenance in an industrial plant
setting
- Perform basic math. Able to read blueprints. Perform instrument
calibrations. Perform electrical installations. Work on PLC.
- Must possess knowledge of how to operate a computer. Must be
able to drive a forklift, manlift.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC-5 desired.
