Overview / Responsibilities

Wood E&IS (Wood) is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to support the Finance Department of Wood and the broader Wood community in the coordination of the company's non-income tax activities to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial information and non-income tax reporting. Specific tax reporting responsibilities include:

• U.S. Sales and Use tax / Gross Receipts tax
• U.S. Real/Personal Property tax
• Canadian GST/HST and PST
• U.S. Business Licenses
• Unclaimed Property (U.S. and Canada)
• International VAT

Primary Duties:

• Review/Approve all Indirect Tax Returns
• Manage Electronic Payments of Taxes
• Analysis of VAT & withholding GL accounts to ensure accurate reporting by outside consultants
• Support & manage the completion of Indirect Tax Audits.
• Review, issue and maintain Exemption Certificates
• Review of account reconciliations, journal entries and account analysis.
• Research tax statutes to determine taxability of projects, services & purchases
• Manage, support and mentor tax staff.
• Train & advise staff, Project Accounting and AP on issues pertaining to indirect tax
• Resolve corporate tax liens and garnishments

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related field
• Minimum 8-10 years of Multi-State & Local Tax experience
• Experience with Tax Technology, Analytics, and Automation
• Experience with CCH, Oracle, JD Edwards, Alteryx, BI Reporting, Vertex or OneSource
• Broad and thorough understanding of U.S. Sales/Use tax and Canadian GST laws
• Experience with Business License Administration and Personal Property Tax
• Proficient with Microsoft applications, Excel and Access
• Strong knowledge of accounting and tax principles
• Positive attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks in dynamic and changing organization
• Ability to work overtime as necessary to meet tax deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with European VAT
• Experience in a professional service organization (e.g., engineering and consulting)
• Experience with Payroll and Corporate Income Taxes
• CMI, MTAX, CPA or CPA candidate
