JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Inspector is a working member of his/her crew who is charged with the responsibility of leading, directing, and assigning the work of the other members of his/her crew.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:


1.Supervise and direct the activities of all assigned personnel, ensuring all inspections are properly completed in compliance with established policies/procedures and the corresponding inspection records, reports, and forms are properly executed prior to releasing products for return to service.

2.Perform technical research as required to determine status/compliance of aircraft components/systems with the latest revisions.

3.Serve as primary inspector and exercise authority in the release of aircraft and components and, as such, accountable for work performed by the assigned Inspectors

4.Responsible for ensuring all inspection tools are maintained in accordance with current specifications and calibrations as required and assure proper records of said tools are prepared and maintained.

5.Serve as a contact point for the customer and production in order to resolve disputes pertaining to production regarding quality and compliance and provide related assistance and counsel as needed.

6.Responsible for assuring all applicable records and reports are completed and maintained as required by the Federal Aviation Regulations, company policy/directives, and customer required policies and procedures.

7.Coordinate with other departments in establishing and maintaining time limits and specifications for all time controlled inspections and overhauls.

8.Maintain standards and records of licenses and qualifications of inspection personnel assigned.

9.Review procedures and work instructions with other departments to determine inspection requirements.

10.Coordinate with the Project Manager in scheduling inspections of aircraft and associated components

11.Develop assigned Inspectors

12.Being primarily responsible for control and disposition of life limited scrap parts, overall responsibility remains with the Director of Maintenance (MCN only)

13. Be authorized to act on behalf of the repair station.

14.Perform surveillance pertaining to safety, documentation, and proper maintenance procedures to ensure compliance.

15.Schedule inspections of aircraft and associated components.

16.Responsible for scheduled inspections of aircraft and associated components to include overall quality project management and oversight.

17.Execute all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner

18.Be thoroughly familiar with FAA regulations and ensure compliance with them.

19.Accomplish all functions in a cost-effective manner.

20.Promote a culture of safety by overseeing all assigned employees duties are performed within the guidelines of the Confined Space Program, LOTO program and Aircraft Hazardous Energy Control (AHEC) program as applicable for each station.

21.Develop and track inspection budgets for primary inspections performed on assigned program aircraft.

22.Clock assigned inspection personnel on and off inspection work orders as applicable throughout assigned shift

23.Correct time keeping errors for assigned personnel as required

24.Report primary inspection budget and schedule performance for all assigned program aircraft to the responsible Inspection Manager or Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector.

25.Track and report buy-back inspection budget performance to the responsible Inspection Manager or Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector.

26.Investigate, validate, and develop root cause analysis based on corrective actions for internal and external audit findings identified on assigned program aircraft.

27.Investigate, validate, and develop root cause analysis based on corrective actions for all late finds identified on assigned program aircraft.

28.Assure all aircraft work document errors for his or her self and assigned Inspectors are corrected in a timely manner.

29.Perform on aircraft audits of completed inspections to validate effectiveness of the inspection process.

30.Perform on aircraft inspections as required and time allows.

31.Attend customer coordination and status meetings at defined times.

32.Ensure accountability to conduct themselves within all guidelines of company, FAA, and customer policies, work rules, and regulations (ex. Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), Airworthiness Agreements), etc.

33.Participate in aircraft investigations to help find root causes and develop corrective actions.

34.Must be able and qualified to perform all duties of an Inspector.

SECONDARY DUTIES:

35.Assist in the training of other employees as well as assisting them in the performance of their job assignments through coaching, counseling, and guidance.

36.Act as an Inspection Supervisor (Lake City only) when required and if qualified for that position.

37.Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers.

38.Keep own and adjacent work area clean.

39.Perform other work as instructed by the Inspection Manager or Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector if qualified.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Accountable to the Inspection Manager in all daily functions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

•FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate

•Language (read, write, speak, and understand English)

•High School diploma or equivalent

•Five (5) or more years experience as a mechanic, 50% of which must be as a floor mechanic, and at least one year as an inspector on large commercial aircraft.

•A thorough understanding of FAR parts 21, 43, 65, 121, 125, & 145.

•A thorough understanding of HAECO Airframe Services ("HAECO") computer system and time keeping requirements

•Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people

•Must have the ability to lead people and accept responsibility



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

•Subject to noises in excess of 85 dB

•Full color vision

•Legible handwriting

•Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds

•Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected

•Must be enrolled in a Department of Transportation approved random drug and alcohol testing program

•Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands
