Position Description:The Department of Physics and Astronomy (physics.cofc.edu) at the College of Charleston invites applications for an instructor position to begin in Fall 2023. The successful applicant must have or expect to have a Ph.D. in Physics before August 15, 2023 and have a passion for teaching physics courses at all levels within the undergraduate curriculum. The teaching load is 12 contact hours per week, through a combination of lectures and labs. Factors such as prior undergraduate teaching experience, outreach experience (K-12 and public), and post-doctoral experience are desirable. This position is a non-tenure track position, but it is eligible for review in the sixth year for potential promotion to Senior Instructor, and if successful, eligible for review for renewal every seventh year.
The College of Charleston is a public liberal arts and sciences college with approximately 10,000 undergraduates and 500 graduate students. The department currently has 19 faculty members and offers degrees in physics, astronomy, astrophysics, meteorology, systems engineering, and electrical engineering.
