Summary
The Internal Communications Specialist writes, edits, reviews and oversees release of internal communication documents and programs that support the organization. This individual also edits and enhances internal communication materials, including intranet, newsletters, emails/memos, videos, infographics, virtual meetings and talking points. Additionally, the Internal Communications Specialist reviews and edits essential internal communications prior to dissemination to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness; ensures a "corporate voice" permeates messaging to employees and stakeholders, coordinates internal communication efforts with those provided by others who focus on external communications (e.g., marketing, public relations), and works closely with the executive management team and departments to keep abreast of company developments and trends.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement innovative communication and change management strategies to gain adoption for key company initiatives
Write and edit internal communication products, such as memos, announcements, newsletters, intranet copy, and posters; coordinate production as needed
Communicate through means that are engaging and easy to use
Develop clear and concise communications to minimize information overload
Meet deadlines, prioritize large workloads, maintain strong attention to detail, and uphold brand standards
Build and maintain partnerships with cross-functional teams
Ask questions to reveal inter-dependencies that may influence content, approach and timing
Define objectives and measures and monitor progress against these metrics effectively
Support planning and implementation of team member events such as town halls and company-wide announcements
Coordinate and maintain editorial calendar and distribution lists
Provide training on communication tools and strategies, as needed
Strong writing and editing skills (syntax, usage, grammar, and punctuation), creative experience a plus
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Communication: Ability to convey information to another effectively and efficiently. Business managers with good verbal, non verbal and written communication skills help facilitate the sharing of information between people within a company for its commercial benefit.
Writing: Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas in a readable form.
Editing: Selecting and preparing written, visual, audible and film media used to convey information. Involves correction, condensation, organization to produce correct, accurate, and complete work.
Media Expert: Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media. Well versed in videos (filming, recording and editing) and infographics (image selection and creation).
Technology: Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and intranet and content management systems.
Presentation: Delivering effective and engaging presentations to a variety of audiences with ability to persuasively get a message across to the listeners.
Process and Project Management: Proficient in administrative activities aimed at defining a process, establishing responsibilities, evaluating process performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement
Education & Experience/Licenses & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or design discipline (Preferred)
5+ years internal communication experience working with employees and executives (Preferred)
Working knowledge of MS Office and/or G Suite. Photo and video-editing software (Preferred)
