Job Title: IT Helpdesk Administrator

Reports to: IT Manager

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Position Description. The IT Helpdesk Administrator is a critical role within Baker Electric, Inc., a subsidiary of publicly traded EMCOR Group, Inc., and is located with the Des Moines, IA area. The position supports all IT-related requests from employees, field and office, including, but not limited to, Active Directory maintenance, company property coordination, assisting with new hire and termination access, general security and maintenance update duties. The position is in-office, with remote options as necessary only. Preferred hours: 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., M-F.

Example Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Computer, software, printer, & mobile device setup, maintenance and inventory (SNOW)
  • Decommissioning and proper disposal of end-of-life IT assets
  • Antivirus and patch management/monitoring for computer and server operating systems
  • Provide intermediate level Active Directory Users & Computers Support
  • Facilitate server backup maintenance and monitoring
  • Provide end user technical help desk support and manage Helpdesk Software (Cherwell). Respond to end-users and close tickets in a timely manner
  • Provide relevant education and training and create documentation for non-technical end users
  • Ensure that all Baker Electric and EMCOR Information Technology SOP's are met
  • Work with outside IT vendor(s) and/or EMCOR IT to manage various projects and initiatives
  • Assist with IT Department strategic planning and budgeting
  • Execute tasks in an organized and systematic fashion, with the drive to obtain the highest level of benefit for the greatest number of end users, while being mindful of cost and applicable man-hours
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the IT Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)
  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required: Associates Degree or higher preferred
  • Preferred CompTIA A+ Certification and Microsoft Technology Associate (MAT) Certification

  • Expertise in computer software, hardware maintenance, and technical support (i.e., Carbon Black, DEPE, Bitlocker, Microsoft Intune, Cohesity, MS Office 365)
  • Experience with repairing, diagnosing, and upgrading PC hardware and basic network troubleshooting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages

The employee may be required to commute to field locations and project sites and be able to navigate around the job site locations.

Work Environment

The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed.

While visiting field locations, the employee may be required to be outdoors, exposed to outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, moisture, cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
