An IT Specialist II at CTEH, a subsidiary of Montrose Environmental Inc., is responsible for working on various information technology projects. While maintaining data validation workflow and utilizing data management systems following CTEH guidelines for data quality, completeness, and accessibility, the IT Specialist II ensures CTEH employees are equipped with appropriate information to make decisions and report to agents and clients. IT Specialists are frequently required to travel on short notice to different projects and provide on-site work. This role requires on-call rotation that and may require overtime and weekend work.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is strongly preferred. All employees will be subject to policies and procedures of the Company that may be dependent on vaccination status.

Job Type: Full-Time

Annual Pay Range: $48,800 - $70,400 (commensurate with experience)

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE

  • Become familiar with client-supplied data and with internally developed tools used to assess data quality and builds databases;
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues and escalate situations according to departmental processes;
  • Interact and collaborate with internal and external clients to understand data specifications and resolve data quality issues;
  • Consistently deliver usable databases, on time and within budget, while conforming to client expectations;
  • Perform application performance analysis;
  • Capable of data visualization of large and complex data sets using software like Tableau, MS Excel and ArcGIS
  • Provide support for employee or customer issues;
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude toward our clients, customers and co-workers which reflects favorably upon the company;
  • Support other service areas as assigned and under the appropriate supervision; and,
  • Perform such other duties as assigned.
OTHER DESIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure;
  • Ability to understand (with minimal guidance) the services offered by CTEH, appropriate contact personnel and CTEH policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability (with minimal guidance) to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions;
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions; and,
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mathematics, Geography, or related field; or,
  • Two to five years of experience as an IT Data Manager or equivalent with a previous employer.
  • Proficiency in a Windows-based platform and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced computer and data management skills in a Windows-based platform is a must.
CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Experience with Microsoft Access (macro and VB code);
  • Experience with SQL Server/Server Management Studio Express;
  • Experience with ArcGIS;
  • Experience with Scribe/Scribe.Net;
  • Understanding of Environmental Sampling Processes;
  • Experience in Mobile Data Collection Development;
  • Understanding of Environmental Data Validation Processes;
  • Experience with data logging;
  • Science background or knowledge; and/or
  • Experience with mobile device development, working within TDD environment, and working with GPS or data logging hardware.
  • Experience with low code development systems such as TeamDesk
  • HAZWOPER 40 certification and TWIC clearance (may be achieved post-hire
  • Ability to obtain a passport (required)
  • Current, unrestricted driver's license (required)

  • Lifting to 50 pounds several times a day
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds

  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, sampling device and/or a paper copy
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Rarely may work shifts of up to 24 hours in duration
  • Dress out in physically demanding personal protective equipment (PPE) for site entry at HAZWOPER sites as required under 29CFR 1910.120
  • Wear half-face and full-face air purifying respirator (APR) as well as supplied air respirators in the form of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and hose supplied respirator with medical clearance as required under 29CFR 1910.134
  • Wear partially or totally encapsulating personal protective equipment

  • Encounter environments presenting physical hazards of uneven ground, standing water, ditches, dusty conditions, rapidly moving transportation, remediation, and construction equipment, and physical stress associated with the wear of personal protective equipment
  • May work at altitudes greater than 5000 feet above sea level

  • May work in a setting with potential physical and chemical hazards
  • Potential for extended travel
