Job Summary/Basic Function:
The purpose of this position is to develop resources for, and provide training to, faculty and staff utilizing supported university technologies. This position also designs and delivers written communications; develops and maintains training resources and content on university websites; and, engages with the campus community to assess and evaluate training needs and services.

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:
60% of Time the IT Training Specialist must:
• Develop, maintain, and deliver asynchronous and in-person training for supported university IT systems and processes.
• Maintain records of training activities, employee progress and program effectiveness
• Contribute to technical documentation and online resources.
• Assess, analyze, and evaluate training and resource needs; work with internal and external department resources to identify various topics or subject areas and skill level of learners.
• Assess IT websites to ensure content is updated and relevant per system changes, new technologies, and user feedback.
• Produce time-based media training resources for IT websites.
• Research emerging technologies.
• Ensure communication and technical writing standards are followed.
• Recommend or supplement external training as required.

40% of the time:

Determined by department needs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Experience providing in-person training to small and large groups.
• Knowledge and understanding of development of training materials.
• Experience providing training to diverse constituent groups.
• Experience with asynchronous training development and delivery utilizing screen capture tools and other current training software applications.
• Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems, and alternative solutions to both non-technical and technical audiences.
• Prefer technical writing experience for communicating complex technical processes and systems for end users with varying ranges of technical experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or Computer Science.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary is $49,025.60/yr; commensurate with experience.
