ABS Group is looking for a Junior Communications Consultant to support development and deployment of communications materials and plans and to develop communications tools and strategies across multiple product lines to grow client communications capabilities, brand, and communications effectiveness.

What You Will Do:

In this role, you will play a key role, working closely with the Senior Communications Lead, the Communications Consultant, Senior data governance professionals, our federal clients, and other project teammates to:

  • Support execution of comprehensive communication plans across multiple lines of effort, in alignment with the client's mission and objectives
  • Collaborate with the team in in conducting elicitation, design, and development of communication objectives and new communication artifacts
  • Support development of website content, graphics/infographics, communications material, or supporting prose
  • Support development of data governance briefings and related presentations
  • Support development and testing of communications templates
  • Support work with team members across multiple lines of effort to identify communications needs and work to develop communication artifacts to address those needs and implement broader communication objectives
  • Capture and track KPI and communications metrics
  • Implement SOPs for maintenance and use of communications artifact library and stakeholder engagement tracking efforts
  • Implement SOPs for maintenance and use of communications workstream management and tracking
  • Support development of assistive materials and simple, effective job aids, or guides
  • Utilize MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Adobe, and other basic software applications commonly used by government
  • Apply and adhere to style, branding, and other guidance consistently
This position is expected to be fully remote and will report to the Senior Communications Principal Consultant and collaborate closely with client and engagement PM.

What You Will Need:

Required:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability (public trust)
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional, relevant experience and a Bachelors degree
  • Knowledge of or significant interest in serving federal government and homeland security or emergency management
  • Skill in quickly soliciting, researching, and gathering information about new, complex topic from clients and colleagues-with an ability to brief, summarize, and visualize information clearly
  • Willingness and ability to:
    * Adjust and tailor communications and training based on the various client audience-levels (executive, management, and general workforce)
    * Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at multiple levels
    * Work as part of a dynamic team to operate across lines of effort
    * Support creation of messaging and tools for different audiences via different communications channels and forums
    * Support identification of necessary resources for communications design and implementation
    * Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
    * Excellent writing and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Solid team collaboration and client relationship building skills
  • Embody and help build a "one team", no-job-too-big-or-small culture
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues
  • Ability to support virtual or other working sessions with clients and stakeholders directly and with the team/clients
  • Ability to stay motivated and engaged with the team in a remote/virtual environment
  • Maintain East Coast hours primarily to coincide with federal clients hours
  • Microsoft Teams or Zoom experience for virtual collaboration and meetings
Desired:
  • Training, experience, or certification in communication tools or platforms
  • Understanding of communication processes and tools
  • Interest to support cross-team efforts
  • Experience in working with materials for online and interactive mediums
  • Experience in federal government settings to facilitate quick acclimation to the project environment
  • Interest in learning data governance and applying that knowledge
