Silver Dolphin Bookspublishes award-winning activity, novelty, and educational books for infants to 12-year-olds. The focus is to create books that engage and inspire children to learn more about the world around them while fostering a love of reading, exploration, and creative expression. From adorably illustrated board books for toddlers, to interactive play and building sets, to sound books made for story time, these innovative books enlighten and entertain.

Studio Fun International (SFI)
produces engaging and educational books and books-plus products for kids of all ages featuring beloved characters from Disney, DreamWorks, Hasbro, Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, and more. SFI creates dozens of different formats, including lift-the-flaps, Movie Theater Storybooks, and magnetic playsets.

The children's publishing imprints of the Printers Row Publishing Group (PRPG) are seeking a Junior Designer to join a growing team dedicated to producing innovative novelty and educational titles for children ages 0-12.The Junior Designer will assist the design team in developing and designing licensed novelty children's titles and formats, as well as archiving and making reprint changes.
What You Will Be Doing:

  • Assist the design team in the creation of licensed novelty books.
  • Photo research and gather of assets for non-fiction titles.
  • Participate in format development and brainstorming meetings with senior staff.
  • Work with editorial and design staff to develop content direction for formats.
  • Make corrections to reprints and send files to production.
  • Pre-flighting all files to ensure the files are ready for the printer.
  • Prepare all materials needed by sales department or outside customers.
  • Problem solves any issues regarding work as it occurs or anticipate and correct.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to collect covers and interiors for presentations.
  • Organizing, checking and archiving files then sending final files to licensors.
  • Study new brands and competitor's product for a thorough knowledge of market needs.
  • Develop a working knowledge of production to economically develop formats.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in design preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years' work experience in book publishing industry/publishing house preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years' work experience in Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Minimum two (2) years' work experience preparing print files.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in all Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to speak with all levels of the organization and outside partners.
  • Familiarity with publishing industry terms beneficial.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Interpersonal skills - the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Oral Communication - the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Written Communication - the individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to partner with management team to influence positive continuous change in ReaderLink's supply chain and publishing programs.
  • Must identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain confidentiality.
