The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking a Lab Specialist to work in Dr. Lukas Tamm's lab. The lab specialist will express and purify proteins from different sources and run an array of biochemical assays to assess the quality and function of these proteins. The incumbent will be highly interactive within a relatively large research lab interested in studies of synaptic neurotransmission and virus entry into cells. Prior experience with membrane proteins and their reconstitution into liposomes and culturing of bacterial and mammalian cells would be a plus, but is not required. The successful candidate will also be closely involved with routine lab maintenance tasks.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in science related field.

Experience: Three years of experience. Six years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
