Job Description

Our Carson,CA laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join their Optical team! The Laboratory Analystassists the Optical Laboratory Supervisor in preparation and analysis of environmental and industrial hygiene samples using polarized light microscopy and phase contrast microscopy.
This is a full-time, benefited position at 40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime. The ideal candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm and after hours, including some weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a science-related field, preferably Geology or other physical science.
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, organized and able to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Great communication skills - both verbal and written are ideal
  • Experience with a microscope preferred
    • Experience with Polarized Light Microscopy
    • Experience with Phase Contrast Microscopy
  • Experience working with a LIMS application
  • Knowledge of EPA methods and regulations
  • Manual dexterity required. Must be able to perform some repetitive tasks with accuracy and precision.
  • Follows Company and Departmental SOPs to ensure accurate and repeatable reporting of results.
  • Adheres to the Quality Assurance Program, documenting and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Successfully completes required training courses and in-house competency testing.
  • Notifies and relinquishes samples to a Supervisor if additional expertise is required.
  • Adheres to Health & Safety, housekeeping, and instrument calibration and maintenance requirements.
  • Periodically analyzes proficiency samples.
  • Maintains equipment and instruments as required.
  • Performs other technical duties as required by the laboratory supervisor.
  • Participates in professional development activities (e.g., publication of papers, active participation in appropriate organizations, attending classes and seminars, etc.)
  • Conforms to all applicable policies and procedures of the laboratory.
  • Performs any other duties related to this position as may be required by the laboratory supervisor.
