Job Description:

Teach a 2-1 course load (two classes in the fall semester, one class in the spring semester) 40%

Research, working with students and faculty on projects 50%

Develop public engagement opportunities in partnership with the Reilly Center 10%

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: Master's Degree in Mass Communication, Political Science, Sociology or a related field.

Special Instructions:

The Manship School of Mass Communication and the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at Louisiana State University seek applications for the Lamar Family Visiting Scholar with expertise in the field of political communication. This is a two-year academic appointment beginning in January 2023.

The Lamar Scholar will work closely with students and faculty in the Manship School on creative projects and initiatives that provide students with unique opportunities for a more critical, in-depth understanding of political communication. The focus of these collaborative projects will fit the background and expertise of the Visiting Scholar and could result in journalistic projects and/or other public-facing, creative works such as a community initiative, industry partnership, or other impactful work.

The position will include teaching responsibilities as well as an opportunity to work with the Reilly Center to develop public engagement opportunities. Successful applicants will be expected to teach two classes each fall semester and one class each spring semester in their area of expertise.
