Job Description

GPI Geospatial is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief for our Marietta, GA office. The requires supervising a field crew to collect survey data, recover and collect boundary evidence, collect topographic data, set and run traverse, perform RTK/RTN observations on control points and document field conditions through pictures and sketches. We are looking for motivated individuals to work on GDOT and Energy projects and private sector projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of detailed field surveys per the provided specifications
  • Supervise and direct field crew on all assigned tasks
  • Responsible for crew safety and implement GPI safety procedures and culture
  • Responsible for data accuracy utilizing proven industry methods with well-maintained equipment
  • Utilize robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS equipment, and other survey equipment, as well as standard hand tools for field surveying tasks. The position also has the opportunity to operate UAS (Drones) and 3D Laser Scanners.
  • Collecting data utilizing field to finish formats such as chaining and feature attributes
  • Taking clear, accurate notes and preparing detailed sketches
  • Ensure all field data is downloaded and transferred daily
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience in the land surveying industry or degree in a related field.
  • Willing to travel throughout Southeast with occasional overnights.
  • Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions include cold, heat, and rain.
  • Possess physical ability to work on your feet for 8+ hours a day and lift survey equipment, open manhole covers, and cut line.
  • Clean driving record

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
