JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is a global construction and engineering firm dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients in the oil and gas industry. With a focus on safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship, we pride ourselves on delivering successful projects that meet the highest industry standards. As we embark on a new offshore brownfield asset retirement project based out of Covington, LA, we are seeking a talented and experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team.

The Lead Civil/Structural Engineer will play a lead role in managing civil/structural engineering efforts for an offshore brownfield asset retirement project. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and electrical engineers, along with environmental and regulatory specialists, developing and implementing civil/structural engineering solutions to safely decommission offshore facilities while minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

In addition to the production of engineering deliverables (construction work packs, engineering studies, regulatory & environmental reviews, asset management plans), a key success factor for the selected candidate will be the ability to efficiently manage the flow of work to remote (workshare) offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee all civil and structural engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to execution and closeout.
  • Develop engineering design specifications, calculations, and drawings for offshore brownfield asset retirement activities, including platform decommissioning, structural modifications, and foundation design.
  • Conduct comprehensive site assessments and surveys to evaluate existing conditions and identify structural integrity issues, corrosion damage, and deterioration requiring remediation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, ensuring the quality and accuracy of civil and structural engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party contractors to address technical inquiries, resolve engineering issues, and facilitate project approvals.
  • Conduct advanced structural analyses, including finite element analysis (FEA) and seismic analysis, to assess the performance and stability of offshore structures under various loading conditions.
  • Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical documentation related to civil and structural components, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and safety assessments to ensure effective communication and coordination among project teams.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, ensuring that all civil and structural engineering activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering roles, with a focus on offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Proven expertise in civil and structural design, analysis, and optimization of offshore facilities, including platforms, pipelines, and subsea structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software tools, such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and RISA, for structural modeling and analysis.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards governing offshore decommissioning activities, including API, AISC, and ASCE requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to offshore facilities and project sites as needed to support engineering activities and project execution.
