What you'll do...

Provide strategic advice and legal counsel to select business segments related to Walmart's global patent portfolio; serve as the primary point of contact for patent and open source matters, bringing in other legal and business stakeholders as needed; manage a team of patent professionals made up of patent agents, a patent paralegal and patent counsel; develop and implement legal strategy to manage the entire patent lifecycle.

You'll make an impact by:

• Working effectively with senior counsel and other members of the intellectual property (IP) team to manage Walmart's global patent portfolio
• Acting as the primary point of contact for all patent and open-source related matters.
• Managing and developing strategy for the entire patent lifecycle, including identifying inventions, reviewing invention disclosures, overseeing patent preparation and prosecution, and working cross-functionally across departments on patent licensing, pre-litigation, and enforcement efforts.
• Connecting with Walmart's business segments to develop an understanding of their product roadmaps, patent and open source priorities, and to ensure appropriate IP coverage of key initiatives
• Working with and supervising outside counsel, patent professionals, patent paralegals, and patent counsel to obtain strategic patents.
• Conducting patent landscape, freedom to operate, and patentability searches.
• Setting open source strategy and overseeing open source compliance.
• Performing outreach and conducting patent and IP trainings for Walmart personnel.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $208,000.00-$416,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

- Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

- Stock equity incentives

Minimum Qualifications...

Law degree from an accredited law school and 6 years' experience in law.
License to practice law in at least one state.
2 years' experience leading cross-functional teams.
