Who We Are:

SwRI designs, develops, and tests avionics systems for a variety of applications in the aerospace community. Our Defense and Intelligence Solutions Division is a leading solutions provider for aerospace defense clients. We also offer subject matter expertise for avionics and flight test solutions.

Objectives of this Role:

  • To support a multidisciplinary engineering team in the development of electronic packaging designs for avionic systems.
  • Mentor entry level mechanical engineers in technical growth.
  • Work with multidisciplinary project team members in creating risk mitigation planning and actions.
  • Support efforts in proposal development, project scoping as well as with client relationship development.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Lead electromechanical system design by developing detail planning of how technical requirements will be implemented in design development. Develop a comprehensive Requirements Matrix. Follow up and validate requirements matrix is integrated.
  • Lead projects from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, earn value.
  • Managing and execution of mechanical engineering and design for projects of moderate to high level of complexity.
  • Identify complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause.
  • Help supervise project work of mechanical engineers, technicians and CAD designers.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors or a Masters with a 3.00 GPA in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-12 years: Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications as well as the ability to apply to design work
  • Ability to perform Stress (Using Solidworks), Vibration (Using Solidworks advance plugins) and Thermal Analysis (using FloTherm a Plus)
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required
