Valid has an outstanding opportunity for a 1st Shift Lead Operator for our VSP Pack Smart Machine based in our Downers Grove location. This position is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating camera-verified production machinery used for secure packaging of gift cards. In addition, this position identifies equipment malfunctions and repair needs and makes minor adjustments. Experience with Pick & Place, Drop on Demand, GT Controllers, DOD imaging, and Read/Write matching is strongly preferred. Hours will be 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, with some overtime required during peak production periods (including some Saturdays).

What will you do?

  • Responsible for operating Pack Smart production machinery while working at a fast and consistent pace.
  • Perform machine set-ups and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Check quality control to ensure product is being produced according to specifications.
  • Ensure product is kept in sequential order at all times.
  • Identify cards that are out of order or doubles in each package and place cards in the correct order with corresponding number cards.
  • Communicate with other team members when quality issues are present to avoid quality errors.
  • Conduct visual checks of machinery and escalates any problems to leadership and maintenance.
  • Train temps as needed and act as lead or subject matter expert for this machine.
  • Perform cleaning of machinery as needed.
  • Perform related job duties as needed and required.
What are we looking for?
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 year of related machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with Pick & Place, Drop on Demand, GT Controllers, DOD imaging, and Read/Write matching is strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience doing machine set ups and changeovers.
  • Experience doing minor maintenance or troubleshooting to fix problems with a production machine.
  • Ability to comprehend number sequencing and recognize errors.
  • Ability to work with numbers with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to continually changing priorities and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Perform a variety of tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Interact constructively and effectively with all co-workers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal.
  • Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks, as assigned.
  • A service-oriented individual with a high energy, positive attitude, and friendly demeanor.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to participate in our background check and drug test process upon hire.
