Position Summary:

Mechanical Engineers at Kimberly-Clark initiate design, develop, optimize, and problem solve manufacturing and converting processes in a manner that meets safety, quality, and operational performance expectations.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Wet Wipes Airlaid Asset team in Beech Island, SC. This team supports daily asset performance, improves reliability, and executes capital projects to improve the Safety, Quality, OEE, & Cost of the Wet Wipes Product System. The individual will report to the Wet Wipes Engineering Manager and receives direction in the form of general project objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel.
  • Support daily manufacturing asset performance to achieve Safety, Quality, OEE, & Cost objectives.
  • Provide functional leadership and creativity in the initiation of design, development, and optimization of manufacturing equipment to meet unit objectives.
  • Lead single or multiple product or process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $10 million from conception through commercialization.
  • Identify and problem solve complex technical issues and provide necessary solutions to eliminate root cause, including leading group Problem Solving sessions.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in leadership of the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, problem solving, and project management.
  • Assist in the development of others within the area of expertise

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Required:

  • Position requires a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2-5 years of working experience
  • Incumbent should have a demonstrated history of proven performance in both objectives and Ways of Working
  • Incumbent should have the ability and flexibility to work in a manufacturing environment with a 24/7 operation
  • Incumbent should be flexible to travel up to 15% as dictated by business need for meetings, machine install or start-up support, benchmarking, or best practice sharing across KCNA

Preferred:

  • 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with external technical service providers.
  • Evidence of continuing self-development.
  • Familiarity with machine installations and startups.
