The Bioassay Development group in the Therapeutic Proteins Department is seeking a highly motivated Lead R&D Specialist to join our fast-paced and dynamic group. You will be involved in assay development and high-throughput screens in early drug development. You should have a strong background in cell biology/biochemistry/molecular biology and demonstrate scientific curiosity and technical proficiency.

In the Role of Lead, R&D Specialist (Bioassay Development), a typical day might include performing the following:

  • Develop and perform cell-based assays in support of the company's Velocimmune antibody pipeline...
  • Perform mammalian cell culture.
  • Engineer and characterize cells.
  • Transfection and transduction.
  • Stable cell line generation.
  • CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
  • Flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and immunoblotting.
  • Develop and optimize in vitro cell-based bioassays, such as absorbance, luciferase reporter, HTRF, FLIPR, enzyme fragment complementation, and high-content image assays.
  • Perform high-throughput screens using 96- or 384-well format.
  • Analyze data, trouble-shoot experiments, and meet timelines.
  • Record experiments in electronic notebook.

To be considered for the role, you must have a minimum of Bachelors degree in biology or a related field with 8+ years' experience or Masters degree in biology or a related field with 6+ years' experience. Experience with mammalian cell culture, stable cell line generation, cell-based assays in multi-well format, flow cytometry, automation, high-throughput screening, molecular and cell biology.
