Job Description
The Lead Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the delivery of world class service to our customers by maintaining and managing the continuous treatment of source water. The Lead Treatment Plant Operator has primary responsibilities in the following areas: Must perform standby.
Ensuring quantity and quality of portable water.
The Lead Treatment Plant Operator performs a variety of duties. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Successfully manages a team of four water treatment plant operators, including planning and assigning daily duties. Writes first level reviews for the pmp process.
Responsible for all activities related to daily operations and water quality, either directly or by directing the work of others, including ordering chemical parts and supplies, sampling and analysis of water quality and process, adjusting chemical feeders, loading hoppers, filling silos, and changing chemical cylinders.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
Ensures facility is compliant in all areas related to the facility and operations, works closely with Water Quality and Compliance to address any issues.
Schedules and performs preventative maintenance including troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment replacements and calibrating analyzer, meters, and monitors.
Coordinates with outside contractors and other departments for projects and improvements.
Maintains records of chemical inventory, water quality, and lab analysis.
Schedules and participates in special projects, such as clear well cleaning, clarifier cleaning, and lagoon cleaning. Responsible for source water, quality, security and dams.
Maintains water treatment license, and ensures staff is properly trained and licensed. Participates in on call rotation. Maintains 24/7 availability for consultation.
