The Departments of Plant & Soil Science (PSS) and Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) at the University of Vermont (UVM) invite applications for a full-time Lecturer position specializing in design and graphics for Ecological Landscape and Community-Centered Design. Applicants must have training and previous experience in one or more of the following areas: landscape design/architecture, urban and rural land planning, as well as applied design processes and graphical execution of design ideas. Ability to teach traditional studio techniques and computer-based applied design and/or visual communications courses is essential. A successful applicant should have studio teaching experience in areas such as applied community design, urban ecological or agroecological systems and social systems. Applicants with experience working on topics in diversity, equity, inclusion in design and climate change adaptation and resilience are especially welcome.

This joint position will serve both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Agroecology & Landscape Design and Ecological Landscape Design for PSS 0.5 FTE (50% time) and the Community Centered Design major for CDAE (50% time). Within CDAE, this 0.5 FTE position will be associated with a thematic 'cluster hire' of several faculty focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The candidate will also provide service to the PSS and CDAE Departments including advising and mentoring undergraduate students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and communication (graphic, written, oral), including experience working with diverse audiences and communities. They will be expected to teach 5-6 courses per year; these will span introductory level to advanced undergraduate coursework in design drafting/graphics, and at least one course should be developed in the candidate's area of expertise, to serve as an upper-level studio course, contributing to the evolving PSS master's program in ecological landscape design. The lecturer will also participate in the selection of design software used to support curriculum.

All applicants are required to hold a minimum of a master's degree in landscape architecture, urban planning or a closely related field.
