Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a Thermal Technologist specializing in liquid cooling who will be the go-to person to guide development through research and analysis of liquid cooling trends in data center environment; research, analyze, and report of specific technologies, components, coolants, methods, and processes relevant to advancing new product development in thermal management of data centers from core to edge. Adept at synthesizing advanced development trends for Data Center IT&T equipment into prioritized R&D efforts. Work Assignments involve comprehensive knowledge in specific area; and execute moderately complex or specialized projects; adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret silicon vendor and ITE OEM roadmaps and trends to guide focus areas on thermal development.
  • Own the architecture for research pathways for advanced liquid cooling technologies, including macro and micro trends, including but not limited to subcomponent and sub system development trends on thermal transfer fluids (Air, Water, Glycol, refrigerants, low GWP) and their interactions with other components within the system/solution. Mechanical components (pumps, manifolds, piping, connectors, controllers)
  • Research and provide guidance on trends on government technical, economic, and environmental factors.
  • Research, understand and communicate on liquid cooling landscape (one-phase, two-phase, immersion, rear door, pumped refrigerant, and other emerging technologies.)
  • Research, understand, and communicate on end-to-end heat rejection systems, from chip to atmosphere, including cold plate/heatsink design.
  • Coordinate and promote future and current vendor interactions, relationships, presentations, NDAs, and JDA's as necessary.
  • Gather Voice of Customer feedback and record and disseminate customer wants, needs, frustrations, and affirmations.
Requirements:
  • Led development projects from incubation to actualization, ideally specializing in advanced thermal technologies.
  • Led and facilitated group innovation projects with IP filing.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering; master's degree preferred.
  • Engineering/Industry group affiliation or familiarity (ASHRAE, AHRI, DOE, Energy Star, Open19, OCP)
  • Should have 10+ years of experience with data center cooling infrastructure.
  • Early adopter, technology advocate, tinkerer, researcher
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people across the organization to gather, ingest, and disseminate information.
