Job Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the transportation and logistics functions for Leviat North America. In this role, you will be responsible and accountable for shipment distribution domestically and globally across various modes of transportation including TL, LTL, and inbound/outbound Ocean and Air Freight. This role manages all freight activities by determining and validating the most advantageous and economical methods of logistics shipping to meet customer expectations and achieve business goals. As a key member of the Supply Chain team, the incumbent will collaborate with internal manufacturing and planning groups, DC operations, customer service team, and key carrier and 3PL partners. Prior experience required managing carrier/3PL/forwarder relationships and driving KPIs to implement and support business strategies which result in year over year improvements in the cost and service of our logistics network. This role will report to the Director of Supply Chain.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead all logistics and transportation activities supporting the North America business
  • Directly responsible for reducing transportation costs across the network
  • Define and implement standardized logistics and transportation processes
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing/managing key performance indicators
  • Responsible for the improving customer service experience and managing service level metrics
  • Negotiate, contract, and manage carrier agreements for inbound and outbound shipments
  • Research and review new and existing transportation vendors; implement programs to reduce, replace and improve upon transportation costs
  • Develops, audits, and manages the budget to ensure efficient operations
  • Company representative for insurance claims when the claims involve company drivers or trucks leased by the company
  • Hold carriers and partners accountable for performance standards, work with plant and DC leaders to address service issues, carry out root cause investigations and determine corrective actions
  • Upgrade our communication approach, frequency, skills, and impact. Interact directly with business leaders to frequently communicate the status of key issues and initiatives

Education/Experience

  • Associates/Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, supply chain, logistics or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience in a transportation/logistics arena; including experience utilizing transportation management software systems and network design
  • Experience establishing business processes and managing performance

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proven record of logistics cost management across the supply chain
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively define, drive, and manage change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable and competent managing conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, and group facilitation skills
  • TMS and ERP systems experience
  • Strong negotiating skills and familiarity with logistics contracts
  • Strong problem-solving ability supported by analytical skills
  • Ability to plan and achieve long-term goals
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
