The Logistics & Planning Specialist will provide on-going support and route consultation to Branch Managers, Distribution Managers and Drivers, in a continuous effort to enhance customer service and reduce operating expenses through route optimization opportunities.

The Logistics and Planning Specialist specializes in utilizing route optimization software to create the most efficient routes possible that are then passed to the field. The goal is daily route creation for multiple locations and daily management and upkeep of the AWG Smart Delivery system. The Logistics and Planning Specialist will work with Sales and Field Operations to explore possible solutions within regions to better optimize distribution as whole. The knowledge, understanding, and analysis of localized and regional routes will assist in improved decision making for new business and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispatch daily orders for multiple AWG locations and build daily routes
• Review previous day routes for each location and communicate deviations
• Work closely with location managers to verify routes or any changes that need to be made to customer information
• Ensure customer deliveries are dispatched in a cost-effective manner while meeting customer expectations
• Pull and store daily route data reports for exceptions
• Assist and lead new locations on Smart Delivery training
• Lead in Smart Delivery setup-related items. (Customer address issues, route closers etc...)
• Achieve distribution objectives
• Pull and maintain weekly mileage and delivery information for reporting and dashboarding
• Build routing models to improve, forecast, and synergize regional distribution
• Assist in distribution profitability analysis of our depots and regions

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Multitask switch between tasks productively
• Have working knowledge and understand the importance of Safety and DOT Regulations
• Industry distribution experience preferred
• Previous routing and Logistics experience
• Previous experience utilizing Omnitracs/Roadnet is a plus
• Previous experience with CU or other ERP integrations with Omnitracs/Roadnet is a plus

Reports directly to Director of Distribution

Location(s): Lexington, KY, Indianapolis, IN or Raleigh, NC

Travel Required: 50%
