Normal Work Schedule: 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a; hours and shifts may vary

Job Summary: The LPN is responsible for facilitating quality patient care and treatment within the scope of his/her license by providing medical/surgical assistance to physicians and registered nurses and by preparing patients for visits. In addition, the LPN may screen calls, schedule appointments and follow-up visits, and provide nursing care as authorized by current certifications.

Additional Department Summary: The staff nurse provides direct nursing care to residents and delegates and supervises the care provided by resident assistants. Administers medications, performs treatments and procedures, obtains specimens as needed, and completes documentation as required.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or the equivalent. Two years of experience working as a licensed practical nurse including experience and awareness of the needs of Geriatric Residents. Must be licensed as a LPN in the State of Alabama in good standing. Final Candidates who are not University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.Must successfully complete health screening once post-offer of employment is made.

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of the Alabama Department of Public Health Rules & Regulations for Assisted Living and Specialty Care Assisted Living. Knowledge of Deta Care and Dementia in the elderly. Knowledge of The Deta Brain Series, The Pharmacological Management of Dementia, and The Dementia Assessment Series provided by the Dementia Education and Training Act Program, or an equivalent training approved by the State health Officer.
