The Mechanic is responsible for the monitoring, operations, troubleshooting, and repair of all utilities, facilities and supporting equipment in the Lyo/Utility Organization. This position is also responsible for decision making when it comes to adjustment and repair of the equipment to achieve maximum performance. Responsible for maintenance and repair of all utility systems including basic knowledge of the BAS (Siemens) system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate major repair and modification to the equipment to obtain maximum performance.
  • Capable of working alone with little or no direction.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair on all types of breakdowns.
  • Perform project work that includes an abundance of plumbing and silver solder work.
  • Identify potential problems prior to them creating a breakdown.
  • Be capable of performing all P.M. functions alone.
  • Recognize and remedy a valve or component that is out of adjustment or needs to be replaced.
  • Rebuild compressors, pumps, etc, with no assistance.
  • Must be able to respond to Xellia in the case of an emergency.
  • May be responsible for training activities related to new team members within Maintenance function.
  • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and forklifts.
  • Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
  • Ability to weld TIG, MIG, Stick, Orbital, and Solder and fabricate machinery.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
  • Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Troubleshoot, clean, preventative maintenance and rebuild cooling towers.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Perform tests and analyze water samples and maintain control of log books for cooling towers.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, bridge port, milling machine and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure processes and products are in compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Oversee that processes are in CGMP compliance, and establish systems that identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change to improve process effectiveness to heighten quality. Develop knowledge of and understand regulatory requirements such as 21CFR part 210 and 211, cGMP's, FDA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Personnel engaged in the manufacture, processing, packing, or holding of a drug product shall wear clean clothing appropriate for the duties they perform. Protective apparel, such as head, face, hand, and arm coverings,shallbe worn as necessary to protect drug products from contamination.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of 12 month or greater vocational school in HVAC highly preferred
  • Greater than 5 years' experience with HVAC maintenance and repair.
  • Universal CFC Certification.
  • Proficiency in Math related skills.
