Position Purpose:

Directs maintenance personnel in the safe and cost- effective inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and improves facility maintenance and maintenance management systems to ensure operational readiness of all plant and pump station processes and systems.
  • Trains and provides field supervision to the facility's maintenance staff. Ensures all work is being performed in a safe professional manner by following established safety, work, and emergency response procedures.
  • Communicates with the Maintenance Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and staff to ensure that plant resources are being utilized to achieve project objectives.
  • Reviews, monitors, and evaluates work performed in an assigned area, and recommends appropriate improvement in equipment, techniques, and procedures.
  • Advises subordinates in diagnosing complex maintenance problems; recommends improvements in predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance procedures; and prepares routine and special reports detailing maintenance activities, progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Approves daily allocation of personnel based on priorities established jointly with the Operations Supervisor; reviews work backlog and takes corrective action to minimize the situation.
  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance records, spare parts, stock, asset history, work procedures, and other maintenance related information, utilizing the facility's computer maintenance program.
  • Promotes morale, and provides staff with an atmosphere of open communication, innovation, and job growth.
  • Must be comfortable giving verbal and written nstructions to the maintenance personnel.
  • Will receive verbal and written instructions from the Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant Project Manager.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for maintenance management.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the standard practices, common tools, materials, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trade, as acquired through four years of on-the-job training.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, and principles of supervision and management, as acquired through three years of experience.
  • Requires good reading, math, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Requires ability to plan, organize, train, and functionally supervise subordinates.
  • Requires proficiency in projecting positive corporate image; the ability to solve complex process problems; and excellent analytical skills.
  • Must possess professional integrity and confidentiality and have the ability to work well and communicate with clients, other managers, vendors, engineers, and other Veolia personnel. and to establish effective working relationships with other employees.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various positions which require standing (40%), bending (30%), walking (20%), and sitting (20%). Requires lying on back, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and squatting.
  • Body movements require working with arms extended above and below head and from body up to 40 minutes, while using hand tools weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds while walking distances of 10 feet.
  • Ability to work on ladders, catwalks, and supports at heights of 50 feet above the ground.
  • Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic conditions and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Requires using chemicals and cleaning solvents to maintain and repair equipment.
