Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician focuses on the mechanical aspects of vacuum deposition systems used in optical coating. This is a hands-on position encompassing aspects of maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading and prevention of malfunctions.

You Will Have the Opportunity to:

• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair vacuum deposition systems and support equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to schedule and update database upon completion
• Build and assemble mechanical equipment, designed in-house in cooperation with design engineers
• Work with colleagues to explain, educate and make recommendations to customer (Process Engineer & Technicians) and department members on design flaws, repetitive symptoms and helps provide solutions
• Apply general mechanical rules & theory to specific problems, to produce mechanically sound solutions
• Develop the breadth of experience and adaptability to make contributions outside the prime area of responsibility
• Responsible for general cleanup and ensures safety procedures, including proper disposal of specific fluids and solvents
  

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum three years of experience as a mechanical maintenance technician in a similar work environment
• Experience in vacuum coating mechanical maintenance preferred
• Strong computer skills, including familiarity with ERP systems, preventative maintenance systems, email systems
  

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Since Materion Precision Optics and Thin Film Coatings Inc is a Department of Defense cleared facility, the candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National, or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.
