MEPPI is hiring a Maintenance Worker I as a Direct Hire opportunity. In this role you will be responsible for daily assigned tasks of basic maintenance duties in the facilities and a wide variety of building/grounds maintenance with minimal supervision. This role is Monday through Friday, 1st Shift.
Essential Functions

  • Perform minor building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains and water closets, picking up trash on grounds, painting, etc.
  • Inspect facilities for defects, analyze problems, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Perform outdoor grounds maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Perform routine periodic inspections and maintenance tasks as scheduled.
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, and machine cleaning, including maintenance of the machine, and emptying trash and janitorial duties as assigned.
  • Transport mail and packages between company facilities as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and your daily work area in a clean orderly manner.
  • Move office equipment, desks, chairs, etc.
  • Assist with outdoor grounds maintenance activities including snow removal.
  • Know MEPPI's Quality, Safety and Environment Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
Qualifications
  • High School or GED, with 2 years of work experience in building maintenance.
  • Must be able to handle all aspects of facilities maintenance and possess a background in facility maintenance including some custodial / janitorial experience.
  • Possess general maintenance skills and have a working knowledge of hand tools.
  • Experience with floor cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to safely and correctly use hand and power tools and measurement devices.
  • Ability to repair and maintain machinery and equipment according to manufacturers' specifications.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to stand, sit, crawl, climb, squat, kneel, twist, bend, and reach above the shoulders as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures and occasionally work outdoors for some maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work at heights 8 to 10 feet on stepladders and occasional use of extension ladders.
