CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Compensation manages the day to day operations and work flow of the University's Compensation Department and staff members in order to achieve the institution's desired market position and compensation goals. Key responsibilities of this role include the evaluation and classification processes, internal equity analyses and labor market studies, management and interpretation of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Manages the day to day operation of the department. Develops process improvement initiatives to streamline workflow. Ensures team has needed salary data tools and surveys to meet organizational needs.
2. Plans, conducts and manages all staff assignments and projects ensuring quality, and completion within established time frames.
3. Hires, terminates, mentors, develops and evaluates staff performance; provides appropriate feedback to team in a timely manner.
4. Analyzes competitive data and monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines, procedures and programs. Recommends compensation plan revisions to ensure consistency with industry trends. Serves as expert on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluations.
5. Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements; reviews and resolves any service related issues.
6. Facilitates monthly team meetings and develops quarterly lunch and learns on various Compensation related topics in order to enhance their understanding of the function. Creates appropriate training materials for customer base and other stakeholders.
7. Assists with the review of senior management requests and conducts evaluations of executive/sr. management level jobs, to include physician compensation. Assists staff with the review of out-of-guideline requests.
8. Develops and presents monthly reports and metrics, to include trend analysis, productivity reports, costing analysis etc. Identifies and addresses areas of opportunity within the department and develops appropriate action plan and processes to ensure administrative and operational excellence.
9. Attends HRCS/Recruitment team, as well as other departmental meetings to communicate information.
10. Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
11. Assists with the development of retention strategies and other new compensation programs.
12. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
