PURPOSE: Provide Company leadership to develop and maintain strong product costing. Develop and mentor Costing Staff to support organizational growth. Direct and coordinate the overall costing activity within the Company, providing critical analysis to Senior Staff and other key stakeholders of product costs across multiple product lines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Maintain accurate product and operational standard costs.* Lead the effort to transition our current cost accounting systems to an ERP environment.* Standardize our cost accounting practices as we move to one cost accounting method for the whole company.* Coordinates the annual standard setting process to ensure accuracy and timely completion along with explanations for changes year over year.* Responsible for managing/developing the Cost Accounting staff. * Develops, implements, coordinates policies and procedures for the department; evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization. * Understands manufacturing operations as it relates to standard material, labor, and overhead costing.* Works with Engineering to develop and maintain labor and overhead standards.* Prepares periodic and complex cost/margin studies and other special financial and business-related studies.* Completes make vs. buy analysis and provides the qualitative information to help leadership with decision making.* Prepare LIFO calculation for inventory valuation and other key year-end tasks.* Prepares special analysis and analyzes trends, costs, and revenues in manufacturing, sales, finance, and general business conditions. * Responsible for material analysis, various month-end analyses, general ledger account reconciliations and various special assignments. * Participates on cross functional and problem-solving teams and projects.* Prepares required inventory footnote disclosures as assigned for 10-Q & annual report filing with SEC. * Supports our external audit relationship by providing information and answering questions as necessary.* Role model CITE principles.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage/Supervise accounting professionals possessing an undergraduate degree. Typically supervises 2 to 4 exempt employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing personnel; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONS: (Education, Experience and Skills)* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field* Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred* Experience in developing, administering, and implementing financial and cost accounting systems.* Excellent personal computer skills in network environment. Demonstrated proficiency in Cost accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.* Demonstrated project management skills.* Ability to work in a team environment and self-directed PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Lifting requirements are typically less than 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Typically works in an office environment or occasionally on or around the manufacturing floor. The noise level is usually moderate.
