Summary:
The Community Engagement Manager will work closely with the Project Development and Operations teams to serve as a liaison between Ecoplexus and local project stakeholders including landowners, elected officials, planning department staff, local taxing authorities, local contractors, and other local stakeholders. They will be the face of Ecoplexus with respect to project communities. With respect to community engagement, the candidate will be involved in the site selection, real estate, tax incentive, entitlement, construction and operations and maintenance (O&M) phases of selected projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders for selected projects. It is envisioned that the Community Engagement Manager will oversee 6 - 8 key development projects at any one time and with varying levels of engagement. The projects in which the Community Engagement Manager will be involved will tend to be Ecoplexus' higher profile projects and projects that possess greater community sensitivity. It is intended that most of the projects will be located in the central United States.
  • Assist with local, early stage development activities, meeting with landowners, local officials and community stakeholders to understand the permitting and tax incentive prospects and general project viability, to garner local support for further development and to gain approvals.
  • The primary purpose of the Community Engagement Manager's engagement with local stakeholders is to facilitate the siting, project permitting/entitlement/tax incentive process and ensuring that the project receives the required local land-use and related permits and tax incentives. Related objectives include establishing Ecoplexus as a contributing corporate member of the community and establishing and fostering communication with all local project stakeholders including project-related landowners, neighboring landowners, elected officials, local government staff, etc.
  • Given the breadth and diversity of local stakeholders' interests and concerns, the Community Engagement Manager will be supported by and coordinate closely with Ecoplexus' other project development staff including the lead regional developer, in-house and third-party permitting experts, Ecoplexus' design team and other Ecoplexus personnel.
  • The Community Engagement Manager will achieve their objectives through a series of face-to-face and one-on-one and/or group meetings with local stakeholders, public presentations, representing Ecoplexus at public hearings, and engagement with local media as necessary.
  • The Community Engagement Manager will also stay abreast of relevant policy and commercial developments of interest to local stakeholders via his/her involvement with industry groups, clean energy advocates and the broader solar energy community.
  • The Community Engagement Manager will establish a strong local network, building productive relationships with regional leaders to promote community engagement and project execution.
  • From time to time, the Community Engagement Manager may be responsible for planning and executing stakeholder engagement events, including ribbon cutting ceremonies, open house meetings, community barbeques, etc. to create a sense of partnership amongst stakeholders.
  • Mobilize supporters and advocates of Ecoplexus' projects for participation in public hearings, and engagement with elected officials. Staying abreast of and constructively engaging with project opponents.
  • Provide regular updates to Ecoplexus' executive management. Promptly raise concerns when they become apparent.
  • Provide a smooth transition to the Ecoplexus construction team as projects progress. Provide post- construction support to the Ecoplexus O&M / asset management team as necessary.
  • You may be provided with additional responsibilities based on mutual agreement of both Employee and Company.
  • Percentage travel within the US. (ranges from 25% to 40%)
Education, Work Experience, Skills Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Public Relations, Communications, media
  • deally 3+ years of experience in an association or membership organization and specifically involved with membership, governance/compliance management, marketing, social media management or events
  • Looking for solar, wind, oil or gas projects or large commercial real estate experience
  • Background in developing and executing on engagement strategies across multiple channels
  • Experience building relationships, and working with customers and colleagues in a global virtual environment
  • Project and/or account management a plus
