SUMMARY

A Manufacturing Engineer positions that focuses on the design and implementation of equipment that focuses on improvement of our testing and manufacturing processes. This is accomplished in a manner that satisfies all Safety, Product and Manufacturing requirements.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Develop and maintain, improve production procedures, shop layout, standard work, etc...

* Study and installation of production line under takt-time.

* Study, design validate, implement, train and improve and set up of automated systems.

* Completed system meets the Product specifications, test coverage and Manufacturing requirements

* Technical direction and monitoring of suppliers and contractors used.

*Design, specify, and track tooling and equipment as per Quality, Cost and Lead-time target

*Assist with establishing and maintaining safety practices.

*Lead and coordinate shop cell setups, organization, and layout activities, while ensuring all regulations and compliances are met.

*Lead and coordinate the activities to support existing engineering projects and coordinate new engineering projects to apply design for manufacturing/test standards for a cost effective solution

*Must act as a liaison between the manufacturing and engineering depts. which includes trouble shooting assembly and design issues.

*Justify equipment costs and understand how to reduce shop expenses.

* Implementation of worksite (s) continuous improvement type KAIZEN.

*Develop a clear understanding of the production schedule and ensure the proper equipment, set-up, and training are implemented to support production throughout the entire process from development to completion.

*Perform process, product, and lean audits

*Serve as Process Coordinator for area of expertise if appointed

*Actively pursue and commit to company goals.

* Participation in quality and safety improvement through QRQC.

*Collection, analysis, and reporting of various data for the company.

*Ability to multitask is a must.

*Follow all safety procedures

*Must be a team player and solution provider

*Flexible work schedule

*Travel as required

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION

EDUCATION:

*Bachelor's degree in Engineering, (Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical)

EXPERIENCE:

*A minimum of 5 years in Transportation or Aerospace Industry preferred, relevant Manufacturing experience will be considered.

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong knowledge of Manufacturing processes
  • Project Management experience
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement practices; 5S, TPM, SMED, VSM
  • Demonstrated capability in Equipment design
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude
  • Troubleshooting ability
  • Lean certification
  • Safety Leadership.
COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES

*Listening

*Takes Initiative

*Strong electrical and mechanical equipment design knowledge

*Computer literate, Microsoft Office, MS Project 2010, Visio, AutoCAD 2011, Solid Works 2013.

*Knowledge of GD&T, SPC and metrology

*Experience in the Rail Industry a plus.

*Qualified candidate must have the ability to respond positively to new challenges and continuous improvements while maintaining current standards.
