MARKETING LEAD - STRATEGIC PROJECT MANAGER

We seek an experienced marketing professional for a Strategic Project Manager role in our Evanston, IL office. Best suited to this role is someone with a marketing or agency background who understands marketing creative production and how to make such marketing project flow effortlessly. Project management skills are paramount, but second to your understanding your marketing audiences, business process, and common asset types. Experience in supporting content for digital and web channels is a must.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing Operations, this role is responsible for managing the overall execution of complex, active programs with large cross-functional teams to ensure that they meet business goals and requirements. The person will work closely with senior marketing leadership, as well as individuals on the marketing team, which include industry marketers, writers/editors, designers, digital marketers and event coordinators. This person will help to oversee the marketing project production process and associated technology to ensure all milestones and requirements are met, using influence to predict and eliminate bottlenecks or resource constraints. In addition, this person will act as the project owner for strategic corporate marketing initiatives throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Project & Resource Planning & Execution - Meticulously monitor high-priority marketing program deliverables, helping managers make necessary and continuous project trade-off decisions, while ensuring efficient delivery by project teams.
  • Communication & Relationship Management - Serve as a mediator among project team members. Ensure deadlines are effectively communicated and met. Collaboratively manage program communication. Coordinate and lead marketing production/stand-up meetings. Proactively assess production schedule to ensure projects are correctly scoped, have adequate content and direction, and are proper alignment to business goals so that overall production resources are deployed optimally and can provide high quality with little rework. Report program status including progress, productivity, risk and outcome metrics to marketing leadership team.
  • Marketing Process Management & Training -Monitor use of the marketing resource management (MRM) and production management systems, training to new team members and providing ongoing training across the team to continuously improve business processes and efficiency.
  • Own Specific Corporate Marketing Initiatives - Lead the project management of corporate initiatives, such as (exact projects will be assigned based on timing and overall team makeup): New ZS Intranet site transformation and launch, ZS holiday card distribution, and ZS Products On Demand Portal (working closely with creative director and office administrative team).
  • Quality Assurance - Assist with the marketing planning process (e.g. milestones, participants, actions, templates, calendar), ensuring marketing's goals are aligned with business and product objectives.
Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience managing marketing projects required (you understand how marketing teams/agencies function and what they value/need).
  • Project Management Certification(s) a plus.
  • Analytical thinker with a natural curiosity and ability to map strategy to tactics.
  • Takes shared responsibility to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience developing and managing complex plans, budgets and deadlines. Experience with Aprimo and Adobe Experience Manager a plus. Experience with other workflow tools like Workfront, Wrike, or Hive also a plus Resilience under pressure. Ability to say no and willingness to pic
  • Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written, including experience presenting to and influencing executives in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills preferred.
  • Self-starter who excels at multi-tasking with strong ability to prioritize to meet business needs.
  • Must possess confidence and assertiveness; ability to collaborate and build credibility with colleagues and business leaders a must.
  • Strong international collaboration skills and experience required.
  • Willingness to regularly shift working hours to meet with global marketing team members in Evanston, Ill. US and/or New Delhi.
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 5%.
