Marketing Specialist

General Statement of Job:
The Marketing Specialist will help coordinate, plan and implement the College's advertising efforts and provides marketing project management for Public Relations and Marketing initiatives and college clients, ensuring that all marketing initiatives enhance and build the image of the college.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides oversight of assigned advertising projects and buys marketing projects, gets quotes from television, radio and online/print magazines, works to implement advertising efforts, and works collaboratively with the Executive Director of PR & Marketing to help advance the goals of the college.
  2. Assists Executive Director of PR and Marketing with developing project plans and conducting risk analysis.
  3. Assists Executive Director of PR and Marketing with project review, vetting and selection.
  4. Meets with clients to assess and determine marketing needs and prepares notes and initial recommendations.
  5. Enters project plan into Teamwork project management software and assists with coordination of project workflow.
  6. Assists units in research and data collection regarding target audiences in order to establish better strategies.
  7. Evaluates the effectiveness of marketing and promotional efforts.
  8. Builds relationships and interacts with other college units, departments and committees to provide efficient and effective marketing services and training opportunities.
  9. Assists with copywriting for advertising campaigns and recruiting collateral.
  10. Keeps abreast of industry standards and innovation through a commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of marketing, content strategy, advertising and issues affecting higher education.
  11. Develops weekly project status reports.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field required.
  2. At least two (2) years of experience working in advertising and/or a marketing environment required.

  2. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
