Job Summary

The Coordinator assists Leadership with operational effectiveness by completing designated responsibilities related to management of inventory, equipment, cost, radiation safety, data collection and charge entry. Improves results by identifying and using processes that promote high quality cost effective service in the cath lab areas.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: AART or RCIS, Current BLS certification required.
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree. In lieu of an AART or RCIS degree, a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with the necessary experience would be considered
  • Minimum Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years experience in an Invasive Cardiovascular Procedural Area and knowledge of Radiation Safety.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Inventory Management. Oversees Inventory management for Cath Lab, EP Lab and EVOR to include ordering and receiving supplies thru Lawson, issuing bill only and no charge purchase orders as needed. Sets and Adjusts par levels based on the department needs. Manages and schedules Vendor access and support to the Cath lab. Assists with supply cost containment and savings. Provides inventory control functions. Manages and supervises inventory stock rotation and assures that adequate stock is available for the rooms. Assures that all supplies are ordered in a timely manner to maintain par levels from appropriate vendors or from the store rooms.
  • Charge Entry and Reconciliation. Performs charge reconciliation for cath lab, EVOR and EP Lab thru the various manual and electronic systems. Helps maintain and update the chargemaster for the Cath Lab, EVOR, EP Lab and Cath Lab Observation areas. Reviews that charge entry is based on clinical reports to ensure accurate billing and correlation with coding. Reviews charges for each procedure done in the Cath Lab departments and assures that the appropriate charges for supplies and procedures are applied to the case. Enters procedure and supply charges into the billing systems in a timely manner. Assist Revenue Cycle staff with billing or coding edits that have resulted in billing or payment delays.
  • Data Collection and Reports. Collect data and create reports from Merge (UDR) for statistical reports and market share to assist decision making process for vendor contracts and other data requests from management. Work closely with Systems Administrator to update and maintain Merge systems. (Heartsuite and Vericis Clinical Reporting).
  • Departmental Contracts. Helps enforce hospital and department supply contracts to assure cost saving. May be asked to help provide data for these negotiations. Helps maintain hospital and department service contracts to assure equipment safety. May be asked to contact vendors to arrange for PMs and service.
  • Radiation Safety. Oversees Landaur dosimetry reports for cath lab, evor, and ep lab and follows up on high exposure rates for staff and MDs. Manages Fluoroscopy Dose Examination forms for cath lab, evor, and ep lab and processes them to medical records. Follows up on radiation exposure data sent to Alliance on the Fluoroscopy Dose Examination forms. Acts as departmental Radiation Safety officer. Attends Radiation Safety meetings as needed.
  • Coding. Maintains working knowledge of CPT codes and ICD-9-CM codes. Advises hospital coders on proper coding for routine and unique cath lab and endovascular procedures.
  • Other Duties. Perform other duties related to distribution and purchasing of inventory as requested by management. Provides clinical support as needed in the procedure rooms. Assists clerical staff with scheduling issues, report distribution, and physician communication as needed. Assists supervisor and other departments with projects, inventory availability , usage, and cost issues. Assists with purchasing projects when needed. Assists Physicians with system issues as needed.
