Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer supports new product development and product sustaining tasks for the company's Thermal global products. The Mechanical Engineer acts as a technical resource between R&D and other internal groups, such as marketing, sales, application engineering, customer technical support, and manufacturing. The Mechanical Engineer provides direct daily support to engineering groups by focusing on systems-entry, testing, and mechanical-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support to internal Vertiv functions - marketing, sales, application engineering, customer technical support and service, and manufacturing.
  • Understands the products, suggesting ideas and improvements back to group.
  • Assists with creation, reviewing, and systems-entry of new product specifications, ECNs, tests, procedures, user manuals, submittal drawings, and sales literature.
  • Creates/modifies mechanical drawings/parts in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
  • Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
  • Performs lab testing of products.
  • Works closely with technicians and junior engineers, providing technical support and guidance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of engineering product development or support experience.
  • Basic working knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts, products, safety and test-methods.
  • Ability to follow, create, and organize testing and instructional procedures.
  • Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
  • Basic mechanical CAD tools experience- Solid Edge, Creo, Solid Works.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
  • Ability to safely and successfully operate in an electrical testing lab environment.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.
