Medical Only Claims Adjuster

Overview:

The worker's compensation claims medical only adjuster is responsible for the prompt and efficient examination and investigation of worker's compensation insurance claims through effective research, negotiation and interaction with insures and claimants. The medical only claims adjuster is responsible for the handling of workers' compensation medical claims with no lost time involved.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service, such as giving limited instructions on how to proceed with claims, completing timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries and resolving minor complaints which arise during the claims handling process
• Performs data entry functions (claim file updates, forms, form letters, electronic interfaces, etc.) as directed by the supervisor
• Performs general maintenance of claims documents in the claim files
• Handles, manages and maintains a case load of assigned claims on an individual basis
• Approves medical treatment on their designated claims within a timely manner
• Helps communicate between the claimant, employer & doctors offices where needed
• Responsible for handling daily duties that are required by the department
• Performs monthly reviews required for file closures

Qualifications

• 2 + years of experience in an insurance claims department, or related experience specifically in medical claims
• Basic knowledge of medical claims procedures and policies
• Proven organization and detail-orientation skills
• Ability to learn new procedures quickly and adapt to a changing environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and ability to learn new software programs
• Basic understanding of business technology
