The Technical Architect is a systems logistics specialist that designs, implements, and maintains IT systems for business clients. Responsible for designing the structure of new technology, overseeing the implementation of programs, and liaising with software development teams.

The Opportunity

Technical Architect for Workplace Productivity

Reporting to the Director of Workplace Productivity, Mass General Brigham Digital, the Technical Architect for M365 is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the Microsoft 365 platform and related technologies for Mass General Brigham Digital. The Technical Architect will work closely with the business and IT stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and provide guidance and best practices for leveraging the full potential of the cloud-based productivity suite. The Technical Architect will ensure the security, compliance, performance, and reliability of the platform, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. In alignment with MGB Digital priorities the architect will develop and manage the long-term strategic roadmap. Additionally, the Architect will apply their expertise in technical and consulting knowledge to advise the business on proper governance to ensure stability, and to enable them to evolve the environments to support changing business requirements. While the primary focus is on Microsoft technologies, the architect's responsibilities apply to all collaboration tools falling under the Workplace Productivity domain. The right candidate for the Technical Architect will have extensive experience and expertise in Microsoft technologies such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Power Platform, Azure AD, Intune, and Security & Compliance Center.

Position Summary:

Technical Architect for Workplace Productivity

Reporting to the Director of Workplace Productivity, Mass General Brigham Digital, the Technical Architect for M365 is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the Microsoft 365 platform and related technologies for Mass General Brigham Digital. The Technical Architect will work closely with the business and IT stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and provide guidance and best practices for leveraging the full potential of the cloud-based productivity suite. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs program landscape research and analysis (e.g., internal and/or external market, sales, delivery), forecasting, and examines business trends (e.g., customer feedback and expectations) to identify audience size and program scope, stay current, agile, and competitive. Understands overall business goals, objectives, and strategies, as well as short- and long-term business priorities. Understands and identifies current program risks, impact, and mitigation plans.

• Identifies and scopes opportunities to develop new initiatives and improve current ones. Identifies and provides solutions to root problems (e.g., root-cause analysis), defines the program strategy, gathers program requirements, identifies resource needs, creates the project plan and targets, and works across teams to align on the plan of record. Improves operations of existing initiatives by applying industry methodology, defining complex program issues, assessing various scenarios, and selecting the optimal scenario to resolve issues. Drives clarity in complex program issues and strives for simplification.

• Works with cross-functional (e.g., organizational, product, business) stakeholders (e.g., Engineering) to design compliant complex programs from initiation to delivery, with minimal coaching. Produces collateral (e.g., proposals, strategy walking deck, internal and external pitch content) to incorporate stakeholder needs and ensure the business objectives are met.

• Defines and tracks the success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Key Performance Indicators [KPIs], such as quality, adoption, usage, impact, effectiveness) for the program.

• Utilizes direction and strategy from leadership regarding business area of expertise in order to help create and execute plans that shift current priorities to new organizational initiatives and objectives, and influences others to change behavior accordingly. Defines vision and strategy for change, broad and specific impact, and the flow of communication to the organization. Ensures buy in and adoption of the new program or change by others in the organization.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

• This is a remote position but may require occasional on-site presence

• Remote home access equipment and communication will be provided and is required as is regular participation in Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings

• Regular participation in on-call rotation which includes carrying and responding to pages 7x24 during the call period. This also requires remote access to resolve issues.

• Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.

• Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Qualifications
Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
• 7+ years of prior related work experience, preferably in a technology or consulting environment
• Experience working with customer insights to assist with driving product improvements through collaboration with product engineering teams
• Experience with leading peer teams and driving best practice sharing
• Demonstrate experience driving delivery excellence and ensuring a high standard of Data Quality
• Proven ability influencing customer decision making through delivery knowledge/value discussions
• Ability to act as a technical lead for peer architects in their area of expertise providing guidance on customer deliverables and architecture

Skills and Abilities

• Microsoft365, Windows 10 (incl. WVD/VDI), Intune/SCCM, Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS), SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform
• Microsoft/Office 365 Security - Azure ATP, DLP, AIP, Windows Defender ATP
• Azure AD, Azure AD PIM
• PowerShell and other scripting language
• Up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft products
• Ability to gain an understanding of business process and issues, and communicate them back
• Ability to work in teams and individually when needed
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with remote teams on projects and offshore teams to facilitate project work
• Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
• Advanced skills and experience in application lifecycle management, agile development methods and software planning
• Strategic thinker about business issues across product areas and industries
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion effectively
• Monitor, mentor, and lead teams to overcome roadblocks and challenges and implement coordination
