Job Description:


Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.

Germanna Community College is seeking a full time VERITAS Liaison/Military and Veteran Services Center Manager, to work in the Military and Veteran Services Center at the Fredericksburg Area Campus.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive and intensive enrollment and advising services to current and prospective veterans, dependents, and active duty military students
  • The candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of all college policies and procedures, including the application, enrollment, placement, and orientation processes
  • The candidate should also have knowledge of all transfer, occupational, technical, and workforce programs offered at the College
  • Assist veterans, dependents, and active duty students resolve problems that could interfere with their educational goals
  • Monitor veterans, dependents, and active duty students progress toward the successful attainment of their educational goals, especially degree/credential completion
  • Connect students with appropriate institutional, local, state, and federal resources that address challenges and provide opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Special Assignments:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented towards program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Previous experience demonstrating strong leadership abilities, influencing others in a positive manner while achieving goals, and effectively communicating ideas and generating support for ideas
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools
