Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Mobile Respite Counselor in the Westfield Respite program at Behavioral Health Network! Mobile Respite Counselors establish rapport with individuals, their families and service providers to help them meet their mental health recovery goals. Mobile Respite Counselors have a small caseload to provide more intensive one-on-one services as they plan and implement treatment interventions and referrals. Mobile Respite Counselors have the opportunity to grow as human service workers through learning experiences such as completing mental status exams and making referrals.

The BHN Respite Program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, serving adults in need of short term support while pursuing long term mental health recovery goals. The goal of the program is to maximize an independent, stable and healthy lifestyle for those served.

Mobile Respite Counselors at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • One to three years of experience in a human service field or equivalent experience with a psychiatric population (required).
  • Associate's Degree (required); Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and insured vehicle for on-the-job use (required).
  • Knowledgeable of the chronic mentally ill population.
  • Interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and to follow through on individual tasks.
  • Good observation and documentation skills.
  • High motivation to work with the mentally ill population.
