About the job:

Under limited direction of the supervisor and with medical direction of the radiologist, carries out appropriate procedures and maintains related records; provides general assistance to the radiologist in interpreting films and provides technical instruction to students and hospital staff. What you will do:
  • Carries out prescribed MRI procedures to produce images of designated area, and completing development of exposed film.
  • Performs and maintains records of equipment calibration; carries out necessary quality control to insure that performance standards are satisfied.
  • Assists in scheduling patients.
  • Maintains records related to patient diagnosis, equipment maintenance, and unit workload.
  • Maintains supplies for the MRI area.
  • Assists radiologist in reviewing films.
  • Participates in instruction of student technologists, and provides general education to hospital staff in MRI procedures.
  • Participates in standby on call coverage of the unit as required.
  • Under the direction of the radiologist, injects contrast materials as needed.
  • Properly screens patients to prevent adverse patient occurrence (i.e. presence of aneurysm, clips, etc.)
  • Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority, and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes.
  • Actively participates in department meetings, committees, conferences, and in services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and Mercy business.
  • Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains ongoing, annual education on safe MRI practices in the MRI environment.
  • Maintains ongoing, annual education on MRI specific practices (i.e. hearing protection, claustrophobia, emergency shutdown).
What we are looking for:
  • Must be ARRT registered and a graduate of a Radiologic School.
  • Must be BLS certified.
  • Must obtain Level 2 MRI safety training certification within 1 month in this position and renew annually.
  • Prefer prior MRI or CT experience.
