Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, is searching for full-time senior faculty members. The appointees will provide coverage at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital NICU and contracted off-site locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. We especially welcome applicants with expertise and/or formal training in quality improvement, ECMO, outcomes research, or analysis of structured EMR data. Opportunities for leadership may be available to appointees with appropriate skills and experience. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Section of Neonatology is committed to excellence in education, research, patient care and community service. It has 15 full-time faculty members and other academic staff who attend the 71 bed unit in Comer Children's Hospital and two community hospitals to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatments in nurturing, family-centered environments with state-of-the-art equipment. In collaboration with the Maternal-Fetal Service, the Section runs the University of Chicago Perinatal Network with more than 10 affiliated community hospitals. The Section has a fully accredited fellowship program with 10 trainees and a robust neonatal nurse practitioner program. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural grants.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Illinois and Indiana, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and 4) have recent experience in intensive care of newborns. Assessment of applications will consider experience administering/directing a level IV neonatal intensive care nursery in a large tertiary center.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: apply.interfolio.com/97814.
