Description:
Loyola Medicine, treating the whole person with compassion-to \"also treat the human spirit.\" The Radiology- Nuclear Department seeks a Senior Nuclear Medical Technologist to certify training in and performing Nuclear SPECT, PET, whole body, dynamic and planar imaging procedures.

In this role, the Nuclear Medical Technologist, Sr will support patient care and the clinical, education, research and teaching operations of the department by performing instruction in Nuclear Medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the department, Loyola University Medical Center and regulatory agency regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Certifies training in and performing Nuclear SPECT, PET, whole body, dynamic and planar imaging procedures.
  • Certifies training in and administration of radiopharmaceuticals in an aseptic technique and ensures compliance both with local, state, and federal regulations. Administers doses with appropriate consideration for patient age and weight in accordance with the dosing schedule protocols approved by the medical director.
  • Certifies training in and operation of various computers to include data entry, image acquisition, data processing, results reporting quality control and data archiving to ensure accuracy of data gathered and to maintain the integrity of the data collected.
  • Certifies training in and practices radiation safety to ensure a safe environment for the patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Certifies training in and performing quality control and quality assurance procedures for all nuclear equipment and protocols.
  • Provides clinical instruction for student technologist to ensure that students abide by the standard of practice and operates within the guidelines of the department, the institution and other regulating agencies.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associates Degree
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Specify Degree(s): Accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6-10 years of previous job-related experience

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) from American Heart Association
  • Radiation Oncology - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Other:
  • Registered by NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
  • Licensed by IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) Division of Nuclear Safety
