The Manager, Occupational Health Benefits, is the touch point for current or former employees who have perceived or actual beryllium health-related issues, their family members, as well as the employees' legal or medical representatives. Reviews the investigation of injuries and processes claims and legal documents; participates in settlement negotiations; recommends loss control strategies; and develops strategies to handle specific cases in consultation with appropriate parties. Thus, the Manager is the key company representative for Materion who helps former or existing employees move through the various legal and medical steps from initial recognition of Beryllium sensitivity on to the point of death or those employees who sustain work related injuries.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Administer, manage, and direct the company's Chronic Beryllium Disease (CBD) policy and initiatives.
  • Educate, maintain relationships, and intervene as necessary with the Department of Labor as it relates to their application of the Energy Employees Occupational Injury Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) Act to Materion worksites and CBD/Beryllium Safety affected employees.
  • Direct and proactively manage the Company workers' compensation program to control costs and remain compliant with the various state statutes and administrative program requirements. This includes interaction with and monitoring of external workers compensation legal issues in all states regarding mediations and settlements. Direct and proactively manage and maintain the Self-Insured status of Ohio Materion facilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in a worker's compensation related field preferred plus a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years claims management experience.
  • Worker's compensation management for state and self-insured programs.
  • CWCP (Certified Workers' Compensation Professional) or WCCP (Workers' Compensation Claims Professional) preferred.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
