Location: Lincoln, 5001 S 14th St.

Schedule: 8:00-5:00
Examples of Work
• Issue overweight and over dimensional permits utilizing a Nebraska Department of Transportation internal web based automated permit system.
• Assist customers in the utilization of the Department's automated permit system.
• Assist customers over the phone who are using the Internet web based system to obtain their permits and answer questions about Rules and Regulations and State Statutes regarding oversize and overweight load permits.
• Assist customers with the issuance of their permits utilizing the NDOT permit system in a timely manner.
• Review state statutes and Department of Transportation Rules and Regulations so permits are issued within the statutes and rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

PREFERRED: Experience in analyzing customer inquiries or issues, applying criteria/regulations, and determining solutions OR post high school coursework or training in processing personal transportation or commercial carrier permits, licenses, or similar authorizations. Extensive experience with computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), customer support by phone and email. Work experience involving map reading.

OTHER: Must be reliable and dependable to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and work overtime hours as needed. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the Nebraska highway system and/or commercial trucking industry. Ability to work with, follow and understand Nebraska State Statutes and Nebraska Department of Transportation Rules and Regulations concerning movement of overweight and over dimensional vehicles. Familiarity and comfort with map reading. Ability to work well under pressure and have good interpersonal skills and be able to deal professionally with the public. Good written communication skills with regard to grammar and spelling.
