Position Summary:

As OBU Congress Event Manager you'll play a KEY role in delivering our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.

The Event Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of all prioritized oncology congresses to support the Oncology Franchises in delivering their strategic priorities. Ensuring seamless delivery of congress logistics and vendor management, to strengthen AZ's oncology position and reach in the oncology pharmaceutical industry. This role will work closely with the US/Global OBU and Oncology R&D (ORD) Teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Support delivery of the AZ Global Congress strategy and partner the Global Franchise teams and OBU/ORD teams to operationalize the overall AZ Oncology congress strategy
  • Collaborate with the US OBU Congress team in the implementation of enterprise-wide solutions to optimize AZ's planning and execution across all priority congresses while meeting evolving needs of the business
  • Deliver and support strategic alignment for all cross-functional booth strategy, execution, and budget management including vendor relationship for priority congresses
  • Liaison with all Tier 2 (and 3 where appropriate) congresses in partnership with the Tier 2 and 3 teams / collaborators, ensuring consistent, appropriate brand presence, efficiency and harmonies across all congress related activity.
  • Work with Congress Steer Co and Congress leadership to assess and deliver efficiency in congress spend, whilst upholding and increasing medical and commercial impact at key congresses.
  • Directly manage congress vendor relationships and vendor responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years' managing conference and events or similar experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biologics industry
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex cross-matrix projects teamsand/or large-scale global conferences
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multi department budgets, PO processes and Vendor management
  • Logistics experience and knowledge of logistics planning systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications
  • Ability to travel to 8 congresses throughout the year (2-3 are outside of the US)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing logistics and delivery of oncology congresses and events both in the US and overseas
  • Highly analytical, with strong organizational skills & interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities and mindset with high intellectual capability, agility and adaptability
  • Motivated and results driven with a curiosity about innovative thinking and developing efficient solutions
  • Resourceful, decisive and proactive; must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization
  • Sound judgment, high integrity with ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrated strong project management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with AstraZeneca's review and approval processes and promotional approval requirements
  • Familiarity with the OBU8 markets promotional marketing regulations (US & UK Market familiarity in mandatory)
  • Familiarity with AstraZeneca's US oncology launch practices and brand planning process
  • High comfort level with interacting with senior leaders, ability to establish/maintain credibility and challenge decisions when appropriate

The annual base salary (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $122,393 to $168.291. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
